  2. Students should be able to describe the bonding properties, compounds, and reactivity of several families of elements.
  3. Students should be familiar with the applications of several families of elements and their compounds.
  4. Students should be familiar with several categories of materials and nanomaterials, and should be able to describe how their properties arise from details of their structure and bonding.
  5. Students should be able to identify applications of specific categories of materials.
  6. Students should be able to read and analyze papers from the primary literature related to the properties and applications of inorganic materials.
